Help Aldi positioning!

The quesitonnaire has been closed today, thanks to those who volunteered to participate!!! I really appreciate your help. And wish you all the best!! XX

Hi!

I'm an honours marketing student at the University of Strathclyde and need your input in order to complete my undergraduate dissertation. I am conducting research into the perceptions held by consumers about the discount grocery retailer Aldi. I would be very grateful if you could find some time to fill in my questionnaire which is anonymous (i.e. your name will not be recorded). Please note that you have to be aged 18 or over due to ethical reasons. An information sheet is also provided at the start of the questionnaire. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Below is the link to the online questionnaire:

Thanks again for your help. :T

as a fellow psychology student i thought i better help out. Will do it now for you :)

edit: sorry to be picky but on question 2.7. you have two options: 4 people or 4 or more people. This should surely be 5 or more people

on question 3.6. one of the words is 'quality'. Quality of what? pressumabley food?

Im confused about 5.3. For example, say if i think Aldi has a basic selection. Would i tick excellent because its execllent for being basic? or poor because i think it is basic and to me that is a negative thing. I think it would make more sense if the options were 'agree, disagree' etc.

Please note im not saying this stuff to try and make me sound clever or whatever, but this is stuff that might get picked up on when marking. I hope you understand this is meant to be friendly and not an attack on your work :)

I am sure there will be folks not being entirely honest.
  • You should put some sort of "other" option into the questions. In many cases the answer I wish to say, for example

Please, mark the retailer you think Aldi competes with the most. Tesco Asda Morrisons Sainsbury's
I would choose Lidl obviously, but if you meant bigger supermarkets, then I would choose Watirose which is still not listed...

I've just completed the survey too. I agree with most of the others that an 'other' option should have been provided in some cases.
  • Also done the survey, hope it helps . X

Thank you so much for your help!! Really appreciate it! And thanx also for giving me further advice!! I didn't place an "other" option cause my dissertation supervisor adviced me not to, as he said that it would create problems when I analyse the data.. (open-ended questions apparently are too complex to analyse)
Also thank you for the other advice given, this was my first questionnaire I had to make so I will keep in mind the comments you have made to make improvements for any further research!

Also if anyone else could fill in the questionnaire I would be very grateful!! Really seems odd asking people like this but have to get them filled in quickly..
Sorry for not mentioning that participants have to be aged 18-45.

Many thanks again for the advice given and for actually filling out the questionnaire! :j

Can I ask why the age limit. I can understand the 18 but why 45? Sorry I can't do it as I am over 45.
  • Isn't it a bit discourteous to be publishing this on Martin's website without checking with him? Unless, you did, of course, in which case - I apologise.

Thanks for highlighting this. It's been a while since I passed a university exam in market research (Bochum, Germany, 1996) but I also found this question somewhat flawed. The way the question and options are worded will most probably confuse many people (it certainly confused me), which is then going to affect the validity of any information extracted from this question.

Is there a chance you can fix this, zamara?

Apart from this, a very professionally made survey. I'm certainly curious of the results.
