can anyone help me save on this journey
i need to travel on 2nd april return on the 4th
i cant get under £85
i cant work out a split journey timetable to get the cheaper tickets

Have you read the Cheap Train Tickets article?
It explains split ticketing (and other things) quite well.

If you are going via Birmingham/Derby it's no good looking for cheap tickets yet - Cross Country haven't released them.

If you are going via Manchester, try splitting there.

Bear in mind that anything described as 'anytime' or 'off-peak' will be the same price on the day - don't be panicked into buying them now
