Barclays Higher Education Account

I am interested in the Barclays Higher Education Account. I have no credit history before, so my credit score won't be that good. I hold a savings account at another bank, and never had a 'bank/current account' before. I don't need overdrafts and other credit facilities. Would I still be accepted?
Besides bringing in ID and proof of address, do I need to bring a degree certificate and proof of employment, even though they didn't mention that on their website?
I have also looked at other graduate accounts, and most of them are better than Barclays. I just want to bank with Barclays, due to the fact of the branches are near where I live than the other banks.
Advice appreciated.

I doubt you'd be rejected based on your credit score, I think it's only a problem if your credit score is bad, ie missed payments on debts etc. It may be better than you think, if for example you're on the electoral roll.
As to whether you'd need proof of a degree, I would take it along since it doesn't sound like you're automatically upgrading from a student account, and you never know. Better to be safe than sorry I would say.“I could see that, if not actually disgruntled, he was far from being gruntled.” - P.G. Wodehouse0 -

Higher Education Account
If you have an existing student account:
Your account will be automatically upgraded to the Higher Education Account, provided that you:- have completed your full-time higher education
- are a permanent resident of the UK*
- have your main current account with Barclays.
To be eligible to apply for a graduate account you must meet the criteria above and also be in permanent employment or have a firm job offer (minimum six-month contract).
That is what you need to have to be eligible for their account. Just took it off their account but generally if you are eligible then all you need is proof that you have completed your degree and take ID such as a driving license or pass port.0
