Red Letter Days, Barclaycard and House of Fraser - sitting on our money!

Options
My father bought for my mother for Christmas 2004 a spa day from Red Letter Days through House of Fraser. She decided after a couple of months to book her experience, but this was the point in 2005 that Red Letter Days went belly up  . She was told to wait patiently and this would be solved, since it was bought on his Barclaycard that their money was safe. Red letter days are now honouring experiences bought through Debenhams and harrods, bought not House of Fraser. Barclaycard say that their purchase insurance ended Feb last year so no longer insure purchases, and so won't help. House of Fraser have copies of both the experience voucher and the Barclaycard statement showing the purchase of the item. They are now saying they can do nothing further until my parents provide them with the ORIGINAL credit card slip (you know, the sign and keep for your records chitty?) which my parents cannot find for anything - it is more than a year since then, so it's a bit odd for them to expect my parents to keep it. Shouldn't they have kept THEIR signed credit card slip for their own records? Or is it tough and my parents are out £100  ? They're just stumped as to how Barclaycard don't have to honour purchase insurance any more (although I'm sure it's still on the back of the credit card statements) and House of Fraser's customer service, whilst being very friendly, are not willing to play ball and agree that a purchase of £100 on the date on the statement and the voucher means that they bought it from there?

Help!?!? I'd really like to get them to pay it back without much further effort, but we don't really know how to proceed. :wall:
It's not like House of Fraser or Barclaycard are going to miss £100?!?!?!?

I am not sure where you stand her am afraid but good luck. It sounds like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place!

Did the experience not come in a box? Is the receipt not in the box? I know that may sound a stupid question but in the past when I have bought things like that until they have been used I have left the receipt in the box!
