Learning French in France

I would really like to learn french, but the only I can make this dream of mine is to actually go there and live and study for a few months. I would however like to do this within a budget. Does anyone know where I can get free french lessons in france, as I know at our local college they do free english lessons for people whose first language is not english? Any advice or ideas would be great.

There are plenty opportunities for native English speakers in France. All children learn English and most aren't great at it !
Many French people look for the opportunity to improve their English. Some organizations do meetings where people spend half an hour talking English, and the other half talking French. Some would even pay a little the English speakers.
Another great option to learn a language in the country without spending much is to work as an Au Pair ( if you like children of course ). You have a room of your own (save great expense and time ), all meals and pocket money. You have free time to take French lessons. In exchange, you look over the children about 5 hours per working day, sometimes have to do light housework. Many families would be looking for English speakers to teach their children.
