Current Best Telephone/Post/Branch?

Here's a query on behalf of my parents. They retired and looking for the best home for their savings, are pretty savvy, and don't mind putting a bit of work into moving things around. However, they don't like internet banking and prefer to talk to real people. When you are looking at the 'best buys' on websites and in the press, it is quite hard to extract the 'non-internet' accounts. Hence this post on their behalf.

They are looking for decent interest rates for, say, up to £20,000, in several accounts if necessary. They wouldn't want to tie their money in for more than a year. Dad is a taxpayer so cash ISAs are OK. They are quite interested in the smaller building societies and are within striking distance of 'branch only' in the South Cumbria/Lancashire/Manchester area.

So, anyone out there seen anything worth them looking at that doesn't involve using a mouse?!

Many thanks in advance.

Peartree
