Selling second hand magazines

Hello everyone - I've been lurking around for a while now, but finally had something to say so thought I'd register. Hope this is the right forum for this question:
I've been having a bit of a clearout recently and just decided to get rid of my old copies of PC Pro (computer magazine). I've got about a hundred of them in good condition (bit of a hoarder I'm afraid), so before I chuck them in the recycling I thought I ought to find out if they might be worth anything.
I can't imagine ebay would be worth it (though happy to be put right on this), cos I wouldn't have thought anyone would want to pay much more than a quid or so for a second hand magazine, and I'm guessing the postage and listing fees would come to more than that.
Does anyone have any ideas whether these might be saleable, and if so how best I might go about selling them?
Thanks for any help you can provide!

I wouldn't have thought that they have any resale value, especially when you consider the inevitable high P+P charges. You might be better off offering them in a local small ads paper. We have removed your signature - please contact the forum team if you are not sure why - Forum Team0

You can try local small ads as you might get more if someone can just pop round the corner and collect. You can also check out completed listings on ebay to see if there is any market in your exact title.
My only other thought is that since PC stuff moves on so quickly is there any real market in out of date technology magazines anyway?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Back in May 2007 I had a whole bunch of pristine (unopened/complete with CDs) Computer Arts Magazines and Computer Arts Projects Magazines and some other designer magazines. All quite expensive (hadn't cost me anything though). I advertised them on ebay and I got £1 + P&P for them.
Glad they went to a good home though.0 -
if you decide not to sell, you could always advertise them on your local freecycle site.
They may be of use to someone, even though of no value to sell.0 -
Magazines are a specialised market, do a casual search through completed listings and see some of the prices that even current ones go for on one hand and the hundreds that go unsold on the other hand.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Thanks for the advice guys - I had a feeling you'd say that, just seemed a shame to chuck them without checking first. I'll see if anyone wants them locally for free - if not in the recycle bin they go...0

Unless there are any with special interest articles in them, then I would just pop them in your local re-cycling bin.
I've sold a couple of Computer magazines where they had (for example) Star Wars on the cover.0 -
I spent quite a while last night looking at completed listings for magazines. Some stuff I thought would sell didn't, yet other stuff went for more than cover price. A celebrity with barely any clothes on seems to help sales!
Only last month I sold a High street available magazine with a cover price of £4.99 for £9..an absolute fluke of course and I was kicking myself as I could easily have bought a whole lot more and turned over a fe wpounds. The hting was it was slightly out of date and I bought it from a market stall where you got three magazines for £2..so even better.
However I had no idea it would sell, it was a complete shock to me I only bunged it up at a 99p start thinking it might appeal to someone.
Talking of magazines though has anyone come across the seller trying to sell copies of 'yours' magazine in singles at 15p a go. They never appear to make any sales yet appear to relist. Their fees must be huge and I can't work out what they are doing.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Where are these market stalls that sell slightly out of date mags?
I've never seen one.
I once got some last months mags from a bankruptcy auction.
Craft ones sold OK except for card making and woodworking ones
Sci-fi ones did well but mainly went abroad.
Computer, gaming, music and health ones all ended up in the recycle bin.
There wasn't any women's ones (Good Housekeeping, Chat etc) in the box I bought so I don't know about them - .0 -
Most markets I visit have an odd stall tucked in the corner that sell slightly out of date magazines and usually 'popular' type books as well. If you have children they are a great way of picking up character comics that have a really high cover price but cheaply.
The ones I visit also do the part works with DVDs like the Ronnie Barker one from last year, usually at around £1 - £1.50 a copy. However they often sell a lot of dross as well, endless craft type magazines and FHM magazines (although a good 'named' celebrity can often sell one of those, but not at any real profit unfortunately.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
