Hi Haley, I am sure I had one of these and no one came! I thought someone might come with the Aegis one as it was different to the HBOS one I had but it seems that one is a bluff too.

:rotfl: lol - if they had come, I was tempted to stay in and answer the door in my hbos uniform, then say, thank you mr debt collector but hbos is already here in person to see to mrs .......'s situation! wish I had been able to do that! :rotfl:

:o:o:oyes am sorry, i do work for the said offending company. :o:o:o

  • I had one of these from them, a while ago now, but nobody came.......They just want to scare you into phoning them I think, that said, I had something similar from Barclaycard/Mercers and they did come, luckily I live in a flat with phone entry, so just said to them I was seeking advise from CCCS and wouldnt be talking to them on the doorstep, and they just left! :D

Dont worry about it, they cant do anything, you know what your plan for the future is and nothing they can say or do is going to change that! Well done!

Surely that only applies to registered bailiffs and not just someone turning up for a chat.

If HBOS are sending a representative to the house, it could well be that they will warn you of the consequences and to try and get you to pay, with the intention to return at a later stage should you not pay. Debt collector, debt recovery agent - ultimately, a bailiff. Anyone can be a bailiff, you don't need to be registered.

I was told by the CAB not to let any representative from any creditor enter my property. I pulled the following from from debtquestions.co.uk:

It is acceptable for debt collectors to visit debtor’s homes if the debtor has agreed or requested a visit; debts are disputed or deadlocked, or the debtor has avoided contact. However, debtors must be forewarned of a visit and given time to seek advice or support before the visit. If a debt collector comes to your door and you request him/her to leave, they must do so.

The bailiff can call at your house at any reasonable time to seize goods, but you do not have to let them in. The bailiff cannot enter your house by force, but they can legally enter your property through open windows or unlocked doors, so make sure all your doors and windows are locked or closed!
Once the bailiff has been inside your house by entering peacefully, they can call again at a later date and enter your house without your permission, forcefully, to remove your goods.
When seizing goods the bailiff must leave the premises safe. When in your house the bailiff has the right of access to all rooms and can force their way into other parts of the property.

Debt collectors are not allowed to visit your property without you agreeing to an appointment. .....and you do not wish to make an appointment, so they are breaking the law. End of story, tell em to clear off, they have no rights what so ever.
  • Let them come and sit outside while you sit in the warm smug knowing how much its costing Halifax to send them.

Why do they never send anyone to me I could have hours of fun.

Don't wish to be alarmist but I had a letter from our secured loan people saying that someone would be visiting in the next 14 days. I ignored it thinking it was just a scare tactic (which I'm sure it often is) however some woman did turn up on my doorstep. I was at work so my DD answered the door to her and just told her I wasn't home, she went straight away and hasn't been back, although our dog was barking at her at the window and according to DD she looked very nervous so maybe thats why shes stayed away!
Anyway my point is that even if you do get a visit they shouldn't be too difficult to get rid of if you don't want to speak to them.
    Good luck.
