Double Glazing Quote - Pricing Advice

Hi Folks

Had one quote in so far and have a couple of appointments booked for next week. I am looking to see what I should be looking to pay for the following;

a. x1 1400 x 1100
b. x2 1750 x 1250
c. x3 1150 x 1250
d. x1 1150 x 450
e. x2 Doors
f. x1 Fixed Toilet Sidescreen (same height as a door)

This quote came in at £6230

Also go a quote for replacing one of the windows at item b for French Doors and was quoted £7080.

All are white PVCU DG, Pilkington K Glass & Argon Gas Fitted in sealed units, deluxe internal finish  , multipoint locking on the tilt & turns and with hinge bolts on doors, night vents fitted, T&G fitted below kitchen window (external).

Location is Scotland, just outside Edinburgh.

Hope this is enough information for some to give me a bit of a steer.

  • Hi

My parents have got a quote from a company to supply and fit new double glazing to their house and they have ommitted the cost of putting in a new lead trays for one of the windows, its worrying my parents as they have signed the contract and 7 days has passed. The company is Fensa registered and seem genuine enough but my parents are worried they may get ripped off with this 'Extra'.

Now the length of the tray would be 2900cms and 9 inches wide.(the size of the window)
Should a quotation include the fitting of the lead tray or would that be regarded as an extra expenses within the double glazing practise?
And what should be a common sense price to pay for the material and the labour involved to install a tray in one of the windows?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanking You
    Mark

P.S. the company has only said that one of the windows needs a new tray yet there is another bedroom window so it is likely that the old tray on that one is ok or something? or is it good practise to replace when fitting new windows in general?
  • was the lead tray asked for at the time of the quotation is this lead tray on the top of the window or underneath on a dormer .some times companies give it as extras over and above the quote because some people choose not to have them done

  • The lead tray is underneath the window. No mention of lead tray replacement was put on the quote. And parents asked for an all in quote to do th ejob and are surprised that the tray was an extra. Is it not neccesary to replace?

They have been to B&Q and reckon the lead is about 30 quid.

    regards

  • then are you saying that they asked for this after the quote and job was signed for .this is not necessarily part of replacing the windows anyway and unless its damaged doesnt really need replacing

  • Thanks, parents have asked what would be a average quote for the job as the lead tray needs to be replaced as new cladding on the windows forces it to.
