Who's having a Burn's Night supper tonight?
Forgot about it this year(I'm not Scottish,so I'm excused),but I usually do a haggis and bashed neeps-it strikes me as quite an old style meal, esp.if you make your own haggis! Anyone done that?Oh,and don't forget the whisky

We just finished out haggis neeps and tatties - a veggie haggis (not a fan of 'normal' haggis) that was in the supermarket reduced a couple of weeks back that I froze, a locally produced neep that I needed to use up anyway, and local tatties that I bought in a 25kg bag - YUM!0

I too had haggis, neeps and tatties and it was great! I love it and probably have it at least once a month.
Think it tasted even better tonight coz my mummy cooked it for me0 -
Just had our Burns night tea. Haggis, turnip & carrots mashed togehter - yummy, and tatties. Scottish and proud of it.If I had known then what I know now . . .

Can I ask,what are neeps?I've never heard of it.0
-
Neeps are bashed turnip/swede. I remember when I was in the States once and went to make haggis, neeps and tatties for my then American boyfriend. Went to the supermarket and couldn't find turnip/swede anywhere. Started to panic but over there they call turnip a rutabaga. Never ever heard of it called that.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0

Where I come from, a neep is a swede, although people sometimes think it means turnip - probably because there is more similarity in the name.
In other areas of Scotland it might be slightly different though!!0
