Talktalk Line Rental and Broadband VAT Refund claim

When I got my bill from TalkTalk yesterday, I noticed that the broadband cost of £10 "included 15% VAT" of £1.30. However, I have always paid £10, which in the past has included 17.5% VAT so they have therefore increased my monthly charge by about 2.5%. I rang customer services and after a long conversation they rang me back to explain that I have to fill in a claim form for the VAT reduction. This has to be done online by midnight on 31st January 2009. I asked how they were informing the customers of this fact and they said they did not know.
My feeling is that they are going to only point this claim form out to customers who complain. They will therefore be making quite a considerable benefit when you work out how many customers they must have.
The VAT is being refunded automatically on call charges, but not on line rental or broadband charges. The amount they will refund is not mentioned but it will be a one off payment made in April or May and will be for the whole year.
Definitely go online and make your claim if you are a TalkTalk customer.
