What radiator size do I need?

Hello
My bedroom is mighty cold despite the recent sub zero temperatures. I am certain that my radiator is rubbish at heating the room because it is so small. (about 60cm x 60cm). I wonder if I give the room dimensions, someone will be kind enough to suggest a more appropriate size and whether I should go for a double radiator. (The one I have at the moment is a single)
My bedroom is South facing, measuring about 360cm x 360cm. That does not include the fitted wardrobe which occupies what would otherwise be a recess in the room. One side in the fitted wardrobe is against an external wall and so gets quite cold in there.
I have one window in the room, measuring approx. 120cm x 190cm. Also the floor is laminated which someone told me may reduce the temp. in the room.
Please could someone provide some guidance on what radiator I should purchase to prevent me from developing frostbite on my toes!
Many Thanks

If you are going to change it anyway then put a larger one than is required as you can always turn it down (1000x600mm double) should need more than that0

How do u turn radiators down? Do I have to buy a seperate adjustment valve or something?
I want the radiator on a different wall so think I may kill two birds with one stone and size up 'cos I def. need a bigger radiator. Is it easy to relocate a radiator. Am hoping it won't cost too much!!0 -
Just done the BTU on diy.com now and that said different - 4000 BTU. Weird!?0

BTU: British Thermal Unit. In your example 4000 BTU* 0.293 = 1.1 Kilowatts.
If you fit a TRV Thermostatic radiator valve it will control you room temperature for you. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Many Thanks!
I read on Wickes website:
Can be hung as a seamtop radiator or roundtop radiator
With the addition of a Wickes Conversion Kit, it can also be hung as a compact radiator
Can someone shed some light as to what this means?!?!!?0 -
I think it means you can use their adaptors to hang one radiator on the front of another and make it into a double radiator.0

I'd recommend this article here for determining radiator size:
http://www.diydata.com/planning/ch_design/sizing.php
...and then work it out yourself with pen and paper. You'll understand it more doing it that way than plugging numbers into a calculator on the internet and get a more accurate answer. The online thermal loss calculators can vary widely between them and usually are based on many assumptions.
