Ahh not to worry, things can only get better eh?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I was paying a mortgage of £750 last July, now it is down to £350. And I am not spending it frivolously, I am repaying my debts! That's GOOD! So I don't feel guilty about that.

Living in England I do feel guilty about my improved situation since the pound has slid down against the Euro. My husband's pension is paid in Euros and instead of £1400 we now get £1800 a month. And I feel really, really bad about posting that here!

Altogether our situaion has improved by £800 monthly. Guilt, guilt, guilt...

patchy987, I think agent orange was being supportive rather than having been offended.

He was pointing out that a fair few posts here are doom and gloom and that some posters may get some satisfaction from posting/reading the doom and gloom.

In short, he was saying that there are probably a fair few more people like you who have found things getting easier but that they tend not to post on this particular board.

For myself - savings are at a goodish interest rate, locked in (although it would help if the savings were of the large or even medium nature!), food, especially the basics, is still increasing but the cut in diesel is helping.

Still feel worse off than this time last year and these last 4 or 5 weeks has been a real struggle.

if you are right then i am relieved, the last thing i wanted to do was upset anyone, that was definately not my intention,

but i have worked out that instead of paying my mortgage arrears over 5 years as i was having to, i can now clear them in 5 months ! now that made me so happy and i had to share it somewhere as it is such a relief
trying to lose 3 stone by end of 2014;)

No worries, it is nice to hear the more positive stories amongst the doom we currently hear all the time.

We're not easily upset over here, we are pretty robust characters... especially us bears!

Good news on the shortened paying time for the arrears, it must be a huge relief.

thanks for that and yes it is a huge relief, the whole of the last year has been pleading with our lender to not repossess our house, now today i have been able to agree to clear all arrears in 5 months and i felt so relieved i burst into tears

Patchy, My remark was not aimed towards you, but towards the doomsters and gloomsters, I'm pleased that your personal situation has improved - good luck to you. The post was just suggesting there seem to be some posters who delight in posting 'bad news'.

Singlesue, many thanks for your intervention, you were bang on the money.

Excellent news patchy :T glad to hear its helping you get on your feet!

Workwise, Im happy and secure at the mo,

Is anyone here buying things to stash away while the prices are so cheap?

"better" toiletries Im finding a lot cheaper is one thing Ive noticed, the likes of charles worthington shampoos that are a fiver in boots) are now frequently in pound shops. Will this stop??

"taste the difference" premium ranges on bogofs now when they hardly ever were before (- even noticed M&S doing the bogofs) i get to buy better stuff for cheaper prices, so thats good.

Clothing is hitting ridiculous levels, check out what trainers are under 20 quid on amazon now. Im stopping myself buying as that was my resolution, but the way things are looking in the shops, it just makes me wonder whether spending my money on this sort of thing is a good idea. im getting million & one emails of all the sales and theres some beautiful stuff, really nice gear ( not tat!) I talked myself out of a beautiful leather holdall for 30 quid and Im not sure why?!

Do we think, for example, in 6 months time it will be impossible to buy trainers under 20 quid or do you think that the prices will get cheaper stll?
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

I would expect the prices of a lot of imported electrical/electronics to shoot up by quite a bit soon, as well as availability to drop. I'm 'up' about 10% on a basket of expensive gadgets and home cinema gear I bought in Nov/Dec.

    .
Just to let you know most IT Stuff up 10% but knew about that before Xmas.

Sounds like you are being sensible. If everyone pays back their mortgages back earlier then the banks have less reason to go broke or fail in their financing and so its a positive for everyone (british public has billions invested in banks) & you have no need to feel guilty

I think the biggest profits were anyone who sold up completely in 2007 or so and then cashed out of the pound when it was over 2 dollars worth. They could redeem themselves imo by coming back and buying a house now, I will forgive :p

All these measures are done on purpose anyway, the general idea is you have more money to spend to stop all these redundancies causing a feedback effect or downward spiral.

ie. you are supposed to feel richer
