melvis - I need to see those puppy pics, sounds like 'nameless' is going to be a real personality :D

You'll be lucky! She won't stay still long enough for my phone to take a photo! Will have to ask OH where his digicam is when he gets up as that takes photos quicker than my phone does so we might have more luck then :rotfl:

  • Thanks everyone for the support and (((hugs))) to everyone else needing them (and to those who don't lol).

The mask is a great idea! I won't go today but I'll ask about that for tomorrow.

Velvetglove - I swear by Echinacea! I've been taking it and since everyone else in the house has had this much worse than I have (the holidays were a nightmare with them all being ill) I think it did help.

    Love you all

PMS hope you read back and this helps
Make any idea sound like its hers - sneaky I know but it will benefit all of you in the end
Has she got any friends / neighbours who have a good home help - maybe seeing them or a phone call may convince her of the benefits - if she has a hobby stress how much time it will free up for her and she'll get someone to gossip to too
Social services / help the aged can give general advice maybe worth ringing them, sadly this happens quite a bit and it feels like you're dealing with a toddler but you can only do so much if they still have the majority of their marbles and won't play ball - we used to all make extra when we had proper meals and freeze a portion then pop them in freezer then do a stock up each week - anything like my gran she'll hate waste so if you phrase it right lol
It is frustrating but there is help out there WRVS / Help the Aged and the Red Cross in some places.
If shes religious the local church may be able to help too oh and speak to her practice nurse - they usually are more personable than the docs lol
    Good luck hun

Am trying to read all replies & reply to them in order if I can.

She had 2 really good neighbours who were wonderful, a couple next door going down the road & a couple a few doors up the road. The couple up the road - the lady died suddenly then the her husband died very soon after. The couple down the road the man died in the house soon after coming back from holiday so some family of this the lady decided to move her away.

All these deaths happened in the space of about 6-12months so DH's Grandma is now very lonely. Other than us she does have some family visit but not regular like we do so it's down to us really.

DH seems a bit brighter this morning, he was on the phone to his Mum again last night when we all got home so we just have to decide what's going to happen next really which is not going to be easy.
2025 - finally back comping after a stressful house move - send me fairy dust please

DH has been up til about 2am the last few nights just crying because of the way she is, he lost his Dad a few years ago & really feels like he's going to lose her soon as well. They are such a close family, his Grandma only had one child (his Mum) then his Mum only had him so they are extremely close, it's hard watching his Mum & him getting so upset about it.
Without sounding horrible, and please dont take offense, it sounds like she needs professional, help, social, services, and occupational therapty are a great help, we are under both, for debi, who only goes out of the house for doctors and dentis., I am her carer, and dont know what I would do without help, you have to talk to someone, there are carer hel;plines, and all sorts of support, honestly they are great, dont mean to sound harsh honest, :A
