Okay.. I've just got a HSBC 0% for 9 months cc.. i've done a few BT from my existing Barclaycard and monument (that I plan to close) and mint. I've got an oustanding £600 which i'm gonna use my savings to pay off asap.
So then I'm left with a flat £2.5k on my HSBC cc. I'm gonna pay £300 a month that will clear this in the 9 months I've got (well i'm gonna pay the min put the rest in a savings account and pay it all off on the final month).
BUT.. I still have 2 O/D that I need to sort!
One is £1.3k student account which is 0% BUT I have another with Natwest for £1.8k that I get charged about £10 a month.
Now I've closed my Barclaycard and Monument accounts ( = £2k) do you think I should wait and apply for another cc with 0% and transfer my O/D (on the odd note I accidently over paid my barclaycard and they couldn't refund it it had to be put in to my current account.. i'm sure I could sneaky a SBT this way??!!!!).
Any advice please?
Sara

you need to find out what interest rate you are being charged at for your overdraft. If interest is charged then paying off the overdraft is a greater priority than the HSBC while it's on 0%.
Personally I'd feel a bit worried about chancing the sneaky SBT method. Mint will allow SBTs though, have you looked into using your existing card? you could then shift the mint balance off to a life of balance or introductory offer card.Debt Oct 2005: £32,692.94

Hi Tondella,
yeah.. I know the sneaky BT would be a risk! I've not looked a mint I wanted to get the balance to £0 but as you say that makes alot of sense! I think (and I'm at work and can't check!) my natwest O/D is about 17%.. and my mint is under 14%... but I wonder if they would sort me a good BT rate? But I only have a £1.5k limit.. but I guess I could pay the o/s with my savings to Natwest.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 092
