Smoking Microwave

One day my daughter wanted to melt some chocolate. She put it in the Microwave for 15 minutes :eek: instead of the 5 secs i said :rolleyes:

Well the Microwave started to smoke, it was coming out of the side vents and let the smoke alarm off

Well what i want to know is, is the Microwave damaged? Is it safe to use it?

It turns on when i plug it in and the light inside comes on, but i'm frightened to turn it on to cook

It will be fine all it did was nuke the food. Other food may smell a bit funny so clean first.

Try putting in a mug of cold water and see if it heats up correctly after a couple of minutes.

It should be perfectly safe to try this test and it will either work or it won't.

Nah! you need a pukka Italian espresso machine to do that!



Microwaves generally have a thermal cut-out which will kick in to self protect it when there are no more water molecules to vibrate and heat up.
