They are not authorised or regulated by the FSA which means you get no consumer protection and there is no monitoring of the standards of this company.

That said, they are not an investments company despite their title. They are a property company. So, FSA authorisation is not required.

So, if you want investments then you shouldnt use them. If you want property speculation then that is what they seem to offer.

• Thank you Dunstonh - that's interesting. Sounds like you wouldn't touch them with a bargepole!

I dont know anything about them so cannot really comment on that front. However, first impressions are not good. They fact they give the impression they are an investment company from their title is a bit dodgy in my opinion. The title doesnt reflect what they can do. Property is an asset class and can be used for investment purposes but the name "intrepid investments" doesnt hint at property. A bit like if I was to call my business "solicitor and accountants ltd". I may have a bit of overlap in a few areas but I am not a solicitor or an accountant.

You have to be pretty high risk to be looking at property at the moment. The US is still going down. The UK tends to lag behind the US and Europe seems to be lagging behind the UK. Until the US bottoms out and shows signs of rising, I wouldnt go near property in UK or Europe.

• Thanks again
• Hi again,

Just looked back at the original email someone forwarded to me about them. I am a bit confused now! I quote,

"UK Investment

Firstly, the scheme is totally UK based and is fully regulated by the FSA (Financial Services Authority). Your investment capital is fully protected."

So, is this a lie?

They have no FSA compliance messages on their website and their disclaimer and copyright message has no FSA message in there either. The disclaimer says the following:

In making this site available, no client, advisory, financial or professional relationship is implied or established and neither Intrepid nor any other person is, in connection with this site, engaged in rendering advisory, consulting or other professional services.

I have just checked the FSA register as well (which lists all FSA authorised firms) and there is no match for this firm. So, they hold no authorisation to provide advice on FSA regulated products and activities.

• Oh my goodness, don't know how they can get away with that.

Thank you for your trouble.

I wonder if they have introducers or people they "sell" leads on to and its those people who are FSA authorised?

If you look on the website under " calendar of events " there is nothing dated later than 2006. I wonder whether this is even a going concern?

Oh, and the partner concern - PeterParfait.com - is offering a 20% interest rate...Definitely a barge-pole job.
• Thanks to Dunstonh and Cheerfulcat
