Not sure if ive got the right forum, but cant find a better place...
My mum has got a virgin media package, including a V+ box where she can record all her favourite programmes.
However all her recordings are blocked and she has to type in her pin number every time she wants to watch anything she has recorded. She has called VM and asked if the 'parental control' can be disabled, as she finds it a bind to do, even for recording daytime shows, where there is no sex or violence.
VM are not being very helpful, they dont seem to know if it can be done or not.
Ive looked on the web site, but the details there seem to be about accessing and watching a channel, not watching something that you have already recorded.
Anyone got any advice?
My mum would really appreciate any help, shes 72 and has cateracts, so she is doing really well navigating her way through the pages to record something, but the less she has to mess about with the better.
Thank you

I'm not sure whether you can totally disable it but you can certianly later the parental controls. Page 19 of the manual tells you how to alter the settings and lock/unlock certain channels.
There's a PDF of the manual here if you need it.It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -

i tihnk no channels are set as locked by default, i dont recall setting some as locked and i still have to enter the pin for programs ive recorded after 9 i think0 -
I find it a nuisance having to enter the pin to watch PG and above rated Sky movies on Virgin. I did contact them as there no kids in the house but they are unable to assist. I would have thought that households with no kids could ask for the Pin facility to be removed but they say it is to do with the Broadcasting Authority!0

Thanks everyone for your replies. I'll be visiting my mum next week so I'll check her manual (im guessing she cant read it with her eyesight)
I have seen the 'standard' setting for viewing, on the virgin web site, perhaps that applies to viewing recorded programmes too.
The puzzle is, she is having to put her pin in to watch programmes like 'loose women' 'the wright stuff' and 'paul ogrady' which are on well before the watershed, and are not rateable as '18' !!!
Im wondering if somehow she has managed to 'lock' the channels? (so anything anytime would need a pin perhaps)
We are on Sky, thats why I'm a bit clueless about virgin!!
I really can not understand why the broadcasting authority insist on this, if she was watching through her aerial, she could watch and record without a pin!!0
