British Gas - shame on them
Options
I recently decided to switch, wasn't sure if it was the best time but seeing that my gas is BG I thought it best to look elsewhere.
The electricity has gone through fine. 3 weeks ago British Gas sent me a letter saying I owed a balance and had 3 days to pay it or they would block the transfer. The letter was dated 12 days before I recieved it so I assume it sat in their post room for a week. I called them and queried the balance I owed as I had paid the last quarterley bill, they said they would send me out another one.
So the new provider tried to put it through again, and BG blocked it again. On receipt of their next letter saying exactly the same as the last, I called and told them I had already requested a bill to pay the balance, and that I wasn't by any stretch of the imagination trying to avoid paying. they said they would send it out again.
This was 10 days ago? Should I now let rip with them? Should I cancel the transfer seeing that the best deal I had 3 months ago when I started to switch is now not the best rate on the market? And also the new provider is now saying I will not recieve any duel fuel discounts now as BG aren't playing ball. So is it best to cancel the whole exercise, sort out BG and then start again?

It looks like BG are stalling in the hope that you'll let your switch drop. You've given BG every chance to sort things out and in your position I would ask Energywatch sort out the problem for you.
Seems little point in going ahead now with a switch that is not the best you can find so sit tight until BG send you a final bill and then switch.Named after my cat, picture coming shortly0
