I have accounts in ING, also my Kaupthing Edge savings. Went on site to move my money yesterday and found this is now not allowed online. Could not get thru on landline either. Do I panic and get out fast or trust the government's so-called promise to cover savings under£50k? What do you think is going on?

Is this from KE or ING? If it's KE then i've just checked my account online and the transfer out facility is still there and functioning.
If it's ING then no idea.
Your deposits with KE/ING are not guaranteed by the U.K. government but the Dutch scheme.

No problem with ING website either, as oldagetraveller says it is covered by the Dutch scheme. Don't understand the panic.

I withdrew some money from KE last night and had no trouble at all.
