HiJackThis log, please

Hi guys,

Here's what happened -

I noticed my pc seemed to be sending way more information than usual (using dial-up and WinXP). Ran my out-of-date copy of AVG and also Spybot, with nothing being found. Used another pc (same one as I'm using now) to get a copy of Malwarebytes. It found an entry for something called Adware.media, which I zapped. I didn't think to reboot and accessed the net. Seemed to again get a greater outflow of information than usual. So I then also acquired a copy of HijackThis. (By the way, there seems to be three bits to download - are they all required?)

This morning I ran Malwarebytes again and it found nothing. Then I ran HijackThis with nothing being flagged up. However, before I access the net with that pc could someone cast an eye over the log below just to confirm that it looks okay?

Also, I know I need to replace AVG 7.5 (I'm planning to use Avast). I thought I read something about it not being straightforward to uninstall AVG. Anyone know aything about that?

Hi exprog

First up, dial up can be VERY dangerous to use. So you MUST be protected properly
Make sure you use spybots IMMUNISE feature (it MUST read zero unprotected when immunised), to stop a lot of nasty DIALER software

Download AVAST from here (Make sure you click DOWNLOAD NOW)

Uninstall AVG with the proper tool

reboot THEN install avast

I also dont see a firewall. ESPECIALLY as you use dial up, id highly recommend a decent third party firewall

On default settings, it will recognise most windows systems and programs you use and auto allow. if it DOESNT, it will ask you. if your unsure then block it till you DO know for sure

(if you have problems with any of the above (Including malwarebytes scans), turn spybots TEA TIMER off)

Log LOOKS clean by the way. But that doesnt 100% mean theres not something nasty on your computer. Once youve installed avast, run a FULL scan
