Hi
Was checking my egg money statement a short while ago and for the newest one covering dec 13 to jan 13 there is a overlimit fee despite the account not being overlimit.
It was in the previous months statement as i forgot to allow for the interest but there wa a overlimit fee for that month statement and i paid off the excess amount as soon as i realised i was overlimit.
Has this happened to anyone else, even with a different company??
Have sent them a message asking why there is a fee being aplied when the account isn't overlimit so hopefully i get a sensible answer

Did you go over the limit during the month before you paid it off? If so you would still get an overlimit fee even if you were withinn your limit at the statement date.0

Even though i'd already had a overlimit fee for the preceeding month??? If thats the case surely they should state you will be charged £16 the following month too somewhere?Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

mmmmmm,I was checking my Barclay card statement this morning as £30.01 was listed as a transaction. This was a over limit fee as apparently the minimum charge by variable direct debit wasn't enough to cover the interest,or so Barclays said.
I did query why the D/D had covered the payment over several years but didn't get an answer. This might be another ploy to gain extra money.
The minimum payment requested was at least £100.00.I laughed and asked the guy where this figure come from.....again he couldn't answer. It should have been £45.00.
I thanked him for wasting my time and suggested he bought a calculator. I then ended the call.0 -

"£16 each month you go over the Credit Limit, even if we authorised the Transaction which resulted in you exceeding the Credit Limit;"
Taken from Egg Card conditions, but presumably the same as Egg Money. presumably you were over the limit in 2 months causing the 2nd charge, if this wasn't the case I'd query it with them.0 -

Bit sneaky this really, letting you spend the money and then fining you for it. I just got charged £12 on my BT credit card for going exactly 15 pence over my limit buying vitamins in Holland and Barrett :eek:In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move........Douglas Adams0 -

15p or £15, the fact is you're still over the agreed limit. If you don't want the £12 charge just manage the finances better!0 -

Thanks for this 'Rules are Rules' moral lesson. I shall surely strive to improve in this area to avoid more outrageous CC charges. In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move........Douglas Adams0 -

It's not as though its a difficult concept to understand is it? Just beat them at their own game by staying within the rules they set.0 -
I got my Egg Money statement this morning and Egg have charged me a £16 overlimit fee despite being £175 below my limit this month and well well well below it last month.
I pay my bill off in full every month without fail. I'm really annoyed!0 -
This happened to me in dec (admittedly I was a bit closer to the limit), every day I checked online my recent transactions were below my limit. Yet on the statement date there was a £16 charge due to the fact that I had a transaction pending which (for example) was purchased on the 18th, but didn't actually show up online until teh 21st - the same day as my payment is made.I got my Egg Money statement this morning and Egg have charged me a £16 overlimit fee despite being £175 below my limit this month and well well well below it last month.

However, when it was added to the statement it was backdated to the 18th which tipped me over my limit even though when I checked on the 18th/19th/20th/21st I was under my limit so didn't think any additional payments were required.
Maybe this is what happened to you - copy your recent transactions into Excel to find if there is a date where you went over your limit?
Otherwise give Egg a call and challenge it!0
