Advice needed on changing suppliers
Hi all,
I just wanted some advice on my current suppliers and whether it would be a good idea to change.
My current supplier for both gas and elec is British Gas.
Previous elec bill £138.66
Current bill: £168.44
Previous Gas Bill: 79.42
Current Gas: £294.79
The gas bill certainly took me by surprise as I have no idea how it could jump by so much. They say it's based on an actual reading which says that 6993.85 kWh was used over 87 days - isnt that a lot?
And advice would be welcome.

7000 kWh over a winter quarter is standard*, not a lot. The national average is 22,500 per year or 5,5125 per quarter. As it's cold, usage is not high.
But £294.79 is very expensive for 7000 kWh of gas - that's 4.2p each! You can get it cheaper. (Are you on the Essentials tariff?)
Pop over to a comparison calculator site and see what alternatives are available.
* In fact, it's a well below average. (Of course, if you're living in one room this is less great.)0 -
And if you DO decide to switch (let's be honest, if you are on BGs standard tariff there will be many many cheaper tariffs to choose from!) don't forget to check out one of the 100% cashback sites and see if there is cash available for switching (better for you to get it as opposed to the switching site). At the moment there is up to £70 availabel in cashback for a dual fuel switch.Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0
