Income support - incapacity benefit question ????

Also - there are programmes to help once she is in a job.
PS - although she is receiving Income Support, it is probably classed as Income Support by reason of Incapacity which should entitle her the same help as it having been straight IB (i.e. additional payments or the option of doing "permitted work").
Hope this helps a little.Blonde: Unemployed: Bankrupt.

It seems quite bad as 2 people working national minimum wages get £350, so we would be worse off with one having a disability????
Shouldn't a couple where both are working get more money than one where only one works and the other's on benefits?

What so she should be penalize for having a disability.
There must be some sot of job for disabled people; a long time ago I went on New deal for 1 year full minimum wage.
Is there nothing like this when you have a disability to help you into work other then training programs?0 -

Unfortunately having a disability penalises people by its very nature.
I think that we all here want genuine benefit claimants to have a decent standard of living, but to have as much income as someone working full time? No.
If your girl friend has never had a job then she'll need some kind of training programme anyway, regardless of her disability. This is often the best way into work anyway.0 -
