MINT Card Issue

Hi

I paid off a chunk of a very expensive loan using my MINT card's cheque facility (the super balance transfer) adn thought it was only 0%.

In fact, this is regarded as cash and is charged at 14% - higher than the loan interest rate that I paid it off with. I just thought I'd make everyone aware of that, because I'd misunderstood the article on super balance transfers, so wanted to make sure others didn't do the same.

What I need advice on is this.

MINT are offering 0% on balance transfers. So is it possible for me to switch that MINT balance to another card, then once its there, switch it back to MINT to get the 0% as it would now be classed as a balance transfer?

According to my Mint T&C's, cheques, like BT's and purchases, are at 0% during the introductory period.

When you say it's 14%, have you been charged this on your statement?

To answer your last point, yes it's possible - but shouldn't be necessary if you're still in your 0% introductory period.

Actually, you're right. On the letter it says "0% on Balance Transfers, Purchase and cheques fixed until 01/09/06 thereafter 14.1%pa (variable)."

Just sorted it and I was given duff info. It is indeed 0% although it seems theyve stopped issuing the cheques now to new clients.

They get confused between the different products, eg RBS, NatWest, & Mint, don't understand the T&C's, and haven't the same attention to detail as stoozers and rate-tarts! ;)

I suspect this is 'duff info' as well.

No I think thats now the case. I've been told it twice now. They're "revamping" their service so have withdrawn the cheques.

Anybody who had cheques issued prior to this decision can still use them, but new applicants don't get them.

Does this mean that Super Balance Transfers no longer work on MINT?

Just heard of a new applicant that got her cheques today. So maybe its duff info after all. EIther way, if you got the cheques you can use them at 0%.

    Hi

I received the cheques today, total credit is £1850. Have just written one for £1500 to my current a/c, with the intention of transferring to my savings a/c. Don't want to 'max out' this credit!

i know this might seem a stupid question but if i were to get a mint card or similar with chegues , would i be able to pay off the remaining 15k on my mortgage and then have the 0% period to wait before i paid off the money or indeed transfer this to another 0% card?
    regards,
    john

    Theoretically yes.

However, you would be very unlikely to get a credit limit of £15K unless you earn lots and you would have to find £15K to pay off the card after 9 months if you could not transfer it (the credit limit problems again).

I got my mint cheques today, along with a number to ring if I want more, so I don't know who gave you this information, but they need to check it.
