Connecting TV, Sky Box, DVD and PS2

Options
Hi guys Is there any electricians out there who can give me a helping hand? I have all of the above and today my ps2 broke and wont play dvds anymore but will still play all games so i went out and bought a new dvd player. Thing is that i now have to pull the cabinet out and take the SCART lead from the dvd and plug it into the TV for it to work and its a right pain in the backside. Is there a way i can use the dvd player or ps2 without having to transfer cables? Normally if i turned the SKyBox off and went to AV on the TV i could play the ps2 but now i cant? At the moment im watching TV and i have the scart from the sky box to the tv and when i want to use the dvd i take this out from the skybox and plug it in the tv. The red, yellow and white cables from the ps2 are connected into the back of the skybox which theyve always been but now i cant get the ps2 to work at all, just dont get it up on screen. I have only 1 scart socket in the back of the tv and i have a spare scart lead am i right in thinking thinking that if i get a double adaptor for the tv and plug it into the back of the tv and use the spare llead on the DVD player id be able to use all 3? If so would the other 2 appliances have to be turned off for the 3rd appliance to work? Hope this makes sense! Thanks!

Best choice for you will probably be to get yourself a Scart control box - these allow you to have multiple Scart connections running into a single connection on your TV.

Decent one on Amazon that I've been using for a number of years now:

Just connect your Sky box, DVD & PS2 into the channels on the box, and plug the box into the TV. Whenever you want to use something, just change to the relevant channel on the box. Easy
Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!! :D

Scart switch boxes degrade the signal ~ I wouldnt use one unless I HAD to

Do you have an S VIDEO SOCKET on the tv?

if so, buy a PS2 lead for it

Im amazed you had the ps2 working THROUGH the skybox. I didnt know it had a 'thru' port!

But yeah, if you only have one scart in the back of the tv, your going to need SOME scart switchbox to plug the remaining 2 appliances in

Try switching Sky off when you want your DVD to play.

I have managed to link, TV,Sky, PVR, Home Cinema and an old DVD and a Wii to an old style TV with just 2 Scart connectors and all talk to each other, don't ask me how, I forget as soon as I have done it and all other household members are threatened with death if they touch anything on it.
