Accidental Damage Question

Hi,

I recently dropped a granite place matt on my kitchen floor and managed to crack a tile in the process.:(

Does anyone know if tiles are covered by accidental damage insurance polices - I know carpets are, but not sure about tiled floors.

Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,
BoomBoom

As the tiles are "fixed" to the buildings and you wouldn't effectively take them away if you move, they would be classed as buildings.

Therefore in order to be covered you would need to have accidental damage cover on your buildings as well as contents.

In relation to the claim though, if the insurer has to replace the whole of the floor, you may have to contribute eg if the tiles are no longer available.
  • Thanks for the reply slh4283. I will check my policy to see if I'm covered under my buildings insurance.
