bank paid off wrong card ( old one with £0.00 balance on it)

I have recently balance transferred to virgin and have made my final payment to lloyds cred card. When i checked my bank online, Lloyds have paid my final payment off the previous card that i had a couple of years ago before they sent me a new one. The previous card had a £0.00 balance and my most recent one was owed £ 30.07. I am now in credit on the old card to the tune of £28.21 while still owing the recent card £30.07 ( cross over between lloyds and virgin, was not sure of the final balance as i changed very near the payment date). I have not changed my DD so i cant understand why they have credited my old card and not paid off my more recent card. By the way, the more recent lloyds was not an upgrade or anything i asked for, they just sent me a new one when the old one was a few years old, and transferred my balance onto it. What are they up to? Is it a sneaky way to get late charges out of me, hoping i would not check and just assume my card was paid off?

They should switch the amount automatically but if they don't a telephone call to card services should sort the matter out. They will also waive any interest charge on the card with the outstanding balance if this happens.0

Thanks, i tried to phone but it was automated and they want my security number from the card. Bit difficult when i have destroyed it/them. Will visit the bank if it does not resolve itself. cheers for reply.0

Often if you wait and do nothing when they ask for the number they give up asking and connect you to a customer service person anyway. That might be worth a try if you didn't - easier than going into the bank.0
