FARES REDUCED BY 9% (£2.50 OR €3.50) FROM 16TH MARCH '06

The checked in luggage goes up to 20kgs from 15 kgs.

I fly often with hand luggage, surprised they don't do a hand luggage top tips page on their website.

How much do you SAVE by turning up naked without any luggage?

  • these changes are going to make ryanair almost bearable for me, the worst thing has always been the check-in queues and the scrum to get on, i always have just hand baggage, it makes sense to do this because ryan has to pay silly money to the airports for their baggage mis-handling services. next time the baggage handlers go on strike in august it won't make much difference.

Beware - they have already introduced a major change to the checked baggage rules. Previous if there was 3 of you travelling on a single reservation you had an a total allowance of 45kg (15kg*3) for the 3 of you. This is no longer the case, you have 15kg each with no pooling. Therefore if a husband and wife travel together as I did this weekend you have to take 2 suitcase if you want to take over 15kg of luggage. To make matters worse in my case, they let me fly out with 17kg and made no mention of the rule change. On the way back I was forced to pay excess baggage.

You did better than my friend. All 30kg in one case for the 2 adults, 1 baby. Far far easier for 1 adult to carry baby and other adult to carry luggage.

They'd booked before these changes too, where T + C said combined luggage was fine. No matter at check in..."These T + C are subject to change" was the get out clause.

They tried to buy a new bag at stansted, but the shops had sold out due to the ryanair policy change. Someone somewhere managed to find here a sturdy Easyjet bin bag for her fly with instead...

They put the baby in a bin bag?!
  • What happens if, like me, you're flying on the 16th of March, but you booked months ago? Do the new rules still apply?

My friend booked her tickets back in Oct/Nov. At check in ,they say you bought the tickets with T + C stating "T + C are subject to change". so they weren't allowed a 30kg case. What alared has quoted from website isn't being carried out in practice.

Hence the potential baby in the bin bag....or 15kg of luggage in it from the 30kg suitcase.
