my e-mail is currently a BT one - so I've set up a ymail.com account. However, before I ditch BT I'd like to transfer some e-mails across - registrations etc - do I have to do them one by one by forwarding them to my new address or is there a way of doing it in bulk?

why not either forward the mails to the new address (1 email, lots of attachments) or copy them all to the desktop or a folder for offline storage?Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Do you use webmail for your BT address? Is this an address that's associated with a BT broadband or dial-up account? If the answer to both is yes, it should just be a matter of going into your Yahoo! account and setting it to download messages from the BT server. To do this, go to Options and click Accounts. This will direct you to a link where you can set up external e-mail accounts in order to fetch messages from them. The name of the server that you need to use is mail.btinternet.com.
To retain sent messages, you'll need to put them into your BT inbox, collect them using Yahoo! and sort them into the correct folders later.
Finally, are you sure you want to do this? The two are very similar but the BT version has more facilities because it's more like the paid for version of Yahoo! Mail. Most importantly, you will no longer have the choice of downloading messages to an e-mail program (eg Outlook, Thunderbird) on your own computer, at least not without paying.
The only reason I can think of is that you're planning to end your service with BT.0 -
I would suggest gmail on the grounds of functionality.Ubuntu is an ancient African word, meaning: 'I can't configure Debian'.0

thanks for the advice. Yes, currently I'm with BT for 'phone and broadband, but sure I can get a cheaper deal via Sky. So I want to just change my e-mail and see how it goes. Will check out gmail.Bern :j0
