My kid's new XBox connected to my Sky supplied wireless router without problem.
The Sky one is just a rebadged Netgear.
We also connect Windows XP & Vista machines an Apple Mac, and iPods to it.

The Linksys lot are brilliant, this can be flashed with tomato IIRC, and for a shade under £40, an absolute steal.

Why do you need a new router for this ? Not trying to be patronising but it sounds like you may be misunderstanding what you need slightly but there's not enough detail in the original post to know. Just if you don't need one and your current broadband modem would do the trick then you can save yourself some money. If you're 100% sure that you need a new router then pretty much any one will do but for Xbox Live you may need to make a couple of firewall changes to allow unrestricted NAT access.
