You can either go through the pain of using a USB A-D converter, download to your PC and then burn your DVD using the appropriate software, or use a standalone DVD recorder.
You may want one anyway for archiving TV programmes that you have stored on your PVR/Sky+ box.
The firt method requires something like this.http://www.amazon.co.uk/KWorld-MAKER-USB2-0-VS-USB2800D-Direct/dp/B0007W5LWI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1231963199&sr=8-1That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I've recently been trying to convert video to DVD using first the software provided, then Roxio Creator 9 which is pre-installed on my machine and, finally, a trial download of Nero's latest offering [great fan of Nero for all things DVD] to both grab the video and burn to DVD.
All of them worked - after a fashion - the latter even gave very acceptable sound quality but the pictures all looked like very bad 1970s pirated !!!!!! videos! Not that I've ever seen any of course!
I didn't and don't really fancy spending around £200 on a combi DVD and Video recorder but can anyone recommend one that actually produces decent copies of video tapes?0 -
Why don't you borrow or buy a DVD Recorder?
All you need to do then is connect your Video recorder to it by means of a Scart connector. Press the play button on the video and the record button on the DVD recorder and Bobs your Uncle!
(Some commercial videos are protected so you might need some further help)0 -

I bought one of these http://catalog.ebay.co.uk/Lite-On-DD-A110-DVD-Recorder_W0QQ_fclsZ1QQ_pcategidZ32852QQ_pcatidZ118QQ_pidZ59320403QQ_tabZ2?_trksid=p4295.c0.m317 and plugged it into Video with scart lead0

It depends on whether you want to convert your own recordings (home video, tv recordings, etc), or commercially produced video recordings. Commercially produced recordings have a form of copy protection on them, so that they turn out like "very bad 1970's pirated !!!!!! films". :rotfl:
Your own recordings wouldn't have the copy protection on, so you could use a number of cheap capture solutions available.I have no signature.0 -
