Printing From Laptop Is Confusing

A relative recently set up a home network so I can print from my laptop but I cant seem to change any printing preferences such as multiple copies or paper source, no matter how many copies I ask for it just prints out 1 and if I tell it to select tray 2 for card it still uses paper from tray 1.
It's fine from the PC but not from the laptop.

laptop is vista
PC is XP

The relative has moved down south now so can't ask him to do anything!

Any ideas?

2 printer settings should be the same on both pc's. Do you have vista drivers from the printer manufacture in stalled or is a case of vista picking up the printer . do you and your relitive use msn messanger , you can use the prograne and he can see your desktop remotley by useing it . If the reletive set up the network he might be able to point you further . logmein works the same way google for it

I dont think there are vista drivers available for my printer so maybe this is the problem

http://www.brother.com/E-ftp/windowsvista/europe.html will be the place to look .
its passable a driver issue but i'm not 100 %
