BEWARE - ebay and paypal dont get involved in disputes!!!

i sold a set of car rear lights on ebay a few months ago and when the buyer recieved them, they told me that a section wasnt working. i asked them to return them for a refund.
on recieving the returned lights, one of them was different and was not the ones i sent.i believe the buyer to be a scammer and purchased my lights and then returned their broken lights to get a refund, hence them having a set of lights for nothing....
i told ebay about this and their answer was "ebay is a seller and buyer site and any disputes should be with the buyer and seller" WHY DO WE ALL PAY EBAY TO SELL ITEMS??? we are using the website for a paid service but when anything goes wrong, ebay dont wanna know!!
so then i turned to paypal..guess what?..they told me in the end to take the lights to my local police station to get a police report on the item i have infront of them..WHATS THAT ALL ABOUT?.. i told paypal that if i done that,i would get arrested for wasting police time...paypal responce...NOTHING!!
out of pocket of £150

    what would you suggest?
if it was a buyer saying a seller had sent odd lights then they would be in the same position
how would you dictate a solution?

What exactly do you expect eBay to do about it? It boils down to your word against the buyers.

Your very shouty shouty in your post. Did you politely and calmly tell the buyer that they have sent the wrong lights back? You could pretend that perhaps they were mistaken and give them a chance to rectify their mistake, so ask them to send the correct one back.

Have you got their contact details off ebay and spoken to them, to ask why they sent the wrong one back?
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I took your main post out of a thread and started a new thread just for you as by posting on an existing thread on a different subject your post would be overlooked. Your post is here:

  • You need to take paypal to court.

Why? It's the buyer thats scammed him.

    Paypal facilitated the scam.

I've read that paypal don't like to defend court cases as if they lose one it might set a precident.
