I've just got my invoice from 18866 and it states I owe £1.30 + £0.20 VAT. All seems well for a years usage but I log on to check my itemised bill and it states they only amount to £0.40. There are no other call charges or charges of any other kind on the bill. I want to ask 18866 why there is a difference but cannot find any way to contact them - can anyone else help?

I assume this is the site you use?
http://www.call18866.co.uk/
If so, use their FAQ page - http://www.call18866.co.uk/faq.php - and go right to the bottom. They don't have a Call Centre, more of an online pop-up that you have to follow through to answer your questions.Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!0 -
I've been through all that - this just takes me to more questions that don't help me. I need a human to answer the question and explain my bill and/or adjust it.0

The only other method I can find of contacting their Customer Services Dept. was in the T&Cs - need to call 0808 170 170 8 from the home phone you registered for the account. They're a bit of a "faceless" company I'm afraid, and appear to have a history of being difficult to contact.Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!!0

Hi
I've been using 18866 for over seas calls for years now with no problems.
Recently it's been playing up. I enter the code and......nothing. This continues for a few days and then the message returns and I'm fine to make calls with them again.
At the moment it's not giving me an option to use the facility.
I have payed all my bills.
I have visited their website and there is no call centre. They have a e-mail address but it wont accept the (correct) number I have been trying to call.
I'm soooo frustrated.
Any ideas or perhaps a suggestion for an alternative to 18866.
Thanks in advance.0 -
I find 18866 can sometimes do this, I assume that like lots of "cheap" services, like web space for instance, it gets busy at times and eventually sorts itself out when they install more gear, or folk leave in frustrationEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0

Thanks Faraway, I have now relocated to Planet Numbers.
They seem to be cheaper too and they've got a call centre. I hate having to no one to talk to when problems arise.
Are Planet Numbers any good?
Ah well, only time will tell I suppose.0 -
Like Chuffy, I have been unable to contact 1886.com. They have invoiced VISA twice for my monthly bill. I can find no way at all to contact them to rectify this. I have tried their website, also e-mailing their customer services address (e-mails bounced) and the telephone number 0808 170 170 8 given by Kane99uk (only a pre-recorded response asking me to pay my non-existent debt!). Can ANYBODY HELP?0

Welcome to the MSE forums Vic29.
Unfortunately, what your describe shows the danger of giving any firm continuous payment authority (CPA) on any debit or credit card - they can do what they like and you have great difficulty reversing their error. It is something Martin has been warning about for over 5 years now.
If you had set up payment by Direct Debit, you would have been able simply to instruct (not ask) your bank to reverse the incorrect payment call immediately.
Anyway, go to http://call18866.co.uk/index2.php
Click on Contact us (in the left hand column)
Click on To report a fault.
Fill in your A/C number and the email address you use for your A/C.
Fill in the webmail form.
If you don't get an acknowledging email within a day, send the same message again (and again, and again).
Worked for me.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
What about credit card expiries Heinz.
The Experian 30 day trial recently I used a card about to expire so the £ 6.99 would not be taken in September. I thought I would have to cancel it by ringing them but I had several emails from them advising me to update the card or they would stop the membership (what I wanted) and have not been charged by them.0 -
Expired (or cancelled) credit or debit cards can still accrue debts for which the original holder will still be liable.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
