i couldnt get a card when i was with lloyds, so moved my bank account to natwest (voted with my feet as they say), applied with capital one and they said same to me and wrote asking for id. sent me a card with a stupid £200 limit, but make a purchase and pay off in full before 4th statement and they up limit. Give it a few months and apply for mainstream cards. I now have a natwest card & natwest gold, and a barclaycard gold. all in just over 12 months.

Thanks for your reply. I've now left Lloyds TSB and moved all of my current account to HSBC where I have a HSBC Plus account. Lloyds are a great bank, but refusing me for both a credit card, as well as an adults current account (I'm on their under 19's account), I decided it was time to move.

While I'm happy I moved to HSBC, it's going to effect my application for credit, as instead of putting 2 years down as time with my bank, I have to now put 2 months *which I did on my capital one application*

No, keep your old Bank Account going and use that for future applications. You are NOT lying, you are simply choosing the more favourable looking account to use on an application.

I didn't think I could do that. I thought I had to give the account details of the account that has my income going into. It's to late now to change it (Put 2 months down with HSBC), however I'll keep the account going and know for future reference now.

    Thanks. :D

Got a letter from CrapitalOne today and they declined my application as my credit rating was too low. I don't understand how I can get turned down for a credit card that is made for people with CCJ's and Missed Payments!

I've applied for a BarclayCard Initial just now and was told 'Sorry, we need more time, we'll write to you', which isn't good. If I don't get accepted for a BarclayCard Initial, I'll stop applying for credit and wait for the searches to be wiped off my file, which takes 1 year I think?

I've now got 5 credit searches including this BarclayCard (Within last 3 months, so this is definitely going to be my last credit application.
