Just received an e-mail from Smile, almost three weeks after the event, that their current account interest rate has been cut to 3%. Why can't changes like this be notified in advance?
Also noticed that they no longer supply prepaid envelopes for sending cheques after trying to find the option. They do, however, provide a "freepost" address which is hard to find. This also means a postal delay using the "freepost address as the prepaid envelopes were first class mail. They could have informed customers about this as well!!

If you take cheques into a Co-Op bank branch, they get keyed onto your account that day so they clear quicker.
I do this now instead of using the post or the Post Office counter envelopes. Here I go again on my own....0 -
That's fine if there's a Co-op Bank branch locally, but they're a bit like rocking horse poo unfortunately!0

I have been with the coop/smile for over 20 years and I am money-saavy. I stay with them because the customer service is first class and so is the internet banking. The few times I have had a faulty goods or refund problem via my smile credit card, the bank has dealt with very promptly and all issues were solved quickly. I use microsoft money and make sure that I have only enough in my current account to cover outgoings. I use their savings account (4%) as a feeder pot and I use A and L and ING for longer-term savings
I paid a cheque in yesterday and yes it was a short train ride to the coop bank but it is already showing in my account. I could have paid it into lloyds locally but it would have taken 4 working days0 -
I pay all my cheques in at the post office using a cheque deposit envelope supplied by Smile. When i am getting low on the envelopes i request more by email and i have them within days.0
