A friend has an old Canon Powershot A520, spec http://www.canon.co.uk/For_Home/Product_Finder/Cameras/Digital_Camera/PowerShot/powershot_a520/index.asp?specs=1
It currently has a small MMC (multimediacard), and he wanted to get a larger card, does it accept SD cards? I know there are small differences between SD and MMC, I assumed it took SD, but on the spec nothing is shown and I haven't got any SD cards to test in it, the card in it currently is MMC.

From what I can find Googling, your friend's camera takes SD cards.0

Thank you Marty, the DPREVIEW website spec says SD/MMC so it must be ok. Will order one for him this evening.0

SD is more or less a more secure version of MMC, They are almost always interchangeable, certainly so in camera's.
DO NOT buy big cards marked SDHC They will NOT to work. A pair of 1GB cards should be the best option, they should give you 400 to 500 shots per card at the highest resolution. It can probably take 2GB cards but rather than get one big card get two smaller ones, that way if you wipe/lose/damage a card you havent't lost all your shots in one go.

Cheers, appreciate that, all my cameras use CF cards, I'm not familiar with these smaller home user ones!
Thanks for the link, that confirms the card type.
Will get him a couple of 2Gb cards, seems the mac for SD, because it won't be SDHC compat for sure.0
