Can I use my Thomson Top up TV DTR as a Freeview DTR?

Due to financial circumstances, I'd now like to cancel my Top up TV package, however I'm currently using a Thomson DTR, and was wondering if I was to cancel the top up package would I be able to use it for the same purpose on the Freeview stations - I know obviously that I wouldn't receive the nightly downloaded content and wouldn't be able to view the top up stations, but would that be it?

Can anyone advise?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that if you don't subscribe to TUTV it will still work as a standard Freeview recorder.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
