I am completely lost.
my wife and i need to start saving for a trip to visit her family in australia in july/august 2010.
We have would be starting to pay in from scratch, ie £0. we are going to pay in £200 per week to begin with.
We will not be toughing this account unless something catostrophic happens and both of us are taxed at basic rate.
what would be the best way (most profitable way)to save this money?

If you haven't got a Cash ISA then you should use that allowance up for £3600 per tax year, as it's tax free but if you are planning to withdraw and spend all the money later this year, if you can get a better rate in a non-ISA account, then you might as well go for it.
