Independent Financial advice in Milton Keynes

I am looking for some independent financial advice in Milton Keynes - is there a way to find reputable Advisors?

word of mouth and reputation are the best ways. Exactly the same as any other profession really.

Avoid national and regional saleforces. Not saying the advisors would be bad but the business mentality will be salesforce driven and I don't believe that is a healthy environment.

A local practice will normally be in it looking for long term business. i.e. build a family relationship to give advice over the years. Rather than looking for one shot business

Ideally get an owner/partner/director to give advice as you will know that they are in full receipt of the commissions and it's easier to negotiate better terms with them rather than an employee IFA who may only be getting as little as 30% of the commission and hasnt the scope to rebate any. Plus employees tend to move around whereas the owners/directors tend to stay put.

https://www.unbiased.co.uk is the major directory of IFAs. Some national firms do have entries in many postcodes. You can spot them by the non local telephone number. Also, dont let the paid for listing with far more information sway you against the one's not paid for. Just because someone parts with money and gets a bigger and brighter profile, it doesnt make them any better.
