Pretty easy to change (but can be a bit of a puzzle if you are not used to them, but you'll figure it out). But you need to get the correct size and some cars have two wipers of different sizes so just be careful.

Personally I only buy Bosch, quite expensive but better than being suicidal with a squeeking blade!!

They are fairly simple to fit, unclip the blade from the wiper arm and put in new one. Most cars are universal, probably not all. Get the right size for your car and u should be fine. If you cannot fit it yourself, ask a friend/family/neighbour to help and observe them, ask them to instruct to fit it so you can diy next time.

I'd second the Bosch blades, had a pair for about 3 years now. They were smearing recently so I cleaned them and the windscreen with vinegar and they're now performing like new.

You may want to try that with your old blades to make sure they really do need replacing.

they can be fidly if your not sure what your doing.
most smaller motor factors will fit them for you and help select the right size for your car, bosch do make good blades and make most oem wipers.
go into the motor factors, plunging cleavage optional (only if your female though) but advised with a seductive come to bed look in your eyes and im sure the guys will be falling over each other to help you. tip the nice man a few quid aswell, always helps the next time.;)

the vinegar is entirly your choice.

treat the blades right and they will last a few years. keep them clean, dont use them when the windscreen is covered in frost or snow, always free them off on an icy morning rather than force them off the window.

    What about balsamic vinegar? :D

I was surprised to find some silly aging stickers on Ford wipers, but with the question now posed how long before you need to replace them, I see why they have included them
(Personally I rip them off after having heard of someone having failed an MOT because the sensors suggested the wipers needed replacing)

If the blade rubber has split and is becoming detached from the holder it's definitley time to replace them. If the wipers don't clear the screen as you think they should, it might be worthwhile replacing them too as they may have become hard due to age or badly worn due to abuse (running dry, used as fly or ice remover). Running your finger carefully along the blade edge will usually tell if the blade has been damaged - it schould be nice & smooth.

  • I bought Bosch for my car, but fitted much cheaper versions from Wilkinsons for my van..... the Wilkinson blades work really well and don't squeak.

Aldi and Lidl are doing some again soon, about a fiver or so. As good as expensive ones. I persevered with Bosch but always had squeaking and smearing after a short while. Not worth the money. Never had a problem with the cheapos from Aldi and Lidl.
