Hi Deals
It's true Ceroc (Leroc,French Jive, Modern Jive) is a very good way for single people to meet but there is no problem with couples going along. During the lessons, the teacher moves everyone around the class so that experienced and new dancers get to dance together. In most classes, you can just dance with your partner if you wish but moving round is a great way to learn. During freestyle (between lessons) both men and women can ask other people to dance, there are no rules about ladies waiting to be asked!!
Have Fun

Hello Deals. Still thinking about it then? Managed to convince your OH?
You'll get a complete mix of people and ages.
Silver-Birch's one sounds a slightly different set up to what I've been used to which is:
You don't have more than about a minute with anyone before moving along the line to a new person (good not to get lumbered with two left footed people for too long.;) )
So it really doesn't matter if you go on your own, as a group of friends or as a couple.
The last hour (freestyle session) at the end is where you get to dance properly.
Go on,do try it.Maybe gather a group of friends and your OH and all go together for the first time.

I go to salsa classes, dances and weekenders and there is a mix of singles, dance couples and couple-couples.
So just go and enjoy.Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j0 -
Thoroughly recommend ceroc (modern jive) - a most enjoyable activity. Been doing modern jive for about four years now. Even though my husband and I have been married nearly 30 years, we hardly ever dance together - it's a great way to make friends of all ages, whether you go in a couple or as a single. Every class I've ever been to I find people very friendly. It's fun, fun, fun. Don't hesitate to try a class!!!!!!!!0

Sorry if I wasn't clear. It is the same Sloughflint, I just meant the teacher tells either ladies or men move up the rows of couples every few minutes so that waiting dancers get onto the floor and everyone gets a few minutes where they are not dancing (because there are usually more ladies than men).
A great hobby and great exercise!0
