Help on buying laptop

Would much appreciate if anyone knows a thing or two bout laptops ..

I'm looking into buying a good spec + not too heavy and bulky one so I can carry along. Need it for my thesis work so have got a couple of resource-thirsty applications.

Have found 4 on ebuyer that are ok and I'm really not sure which one to choose:confused:.

1. Samsung P210-FA01 Centrino 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 12.1" WXGA @ £553.94

2. HP 2230S Core 2 Duo P7370 2GHz, 3GB RAM, 12.1" TFT @ £558.51

3. Acer Aspire 2930 Core 2 Duo P7350 2GHz, 3GB RAM, 12.1" TFT @ £562.75

4.
Acer Aspire 2930 Core 2 Duo P7350 2.2GHz, 4GB RAM, 12" TFT @ £597.89

Ta v much for your help!!

Check out the powerc.com web site..built in the uk great customer service, great warranty, and not one bad word said about them on the internet+over 25 years of selling and building computors
If you are unsure of what you want give then a ring and ask for TOM.
NO i do not work for them..just a huge fan

  • There was a long thread on Hotukdeals a few weeks ago about this one from ebuyer - seems like a very good deal.

For those prices you could easily get larger screen laptops.

Why don't you ask your university department to sort you out? They may be able to lend you a laptop or get a discounted one from somewhere like dell, apple or lenovo.

Just out of curiosity what sort of resource hungry apps are you planning to run?
  • thanks for your suggestions. just want one that's easy to carry along. about 2kg and not too big.
resource hungry apps.. well maybe a bit of exaggeration on my part. sorry sk3. usually running word processing+ graphs+ some chemistry apps at same time+ net browsing..
