Don't know if this is available everywhere, but I've just been in our local Tesco Extra and they are selling 5 low energy bulbs for 40p. It's in conjunction with EDF energy. Was a bit concerned when I could see them going through the till at £1 each, but sure enough, £4.60 was deducted at the end.

I bought some from Tescos and they are cheap and awful colour tone. My lights in my bedroom now are a terrible colour temperature very cold looking.

Went to sainsburys who have 4 for 40p and they are the philips ones so much better!!!

You wuz robbed at Tesco. Some people have managed to get them for just 29p because of some VAT refund issues

Personally I think I like the buy 1 get 2 free offer (£2 each) on the spiral light bulbs. More expensive, granted, but seem to give a better light output and fit more of my light fittings without an ugly bit sticking out that the stick types often do.

I got 4 energy saving bulbs free from my electricity supplier. They are philips ones and quite decent. Bayonet fit only though.
