Plese help - Cant solve a problem

Hi all . Our local news came and filmed us yesterday as we won a competition. That news station now has the video on their website and we want to try and download the video so we can out it on our daughter's website ( Tiana has had 3 heart ops in the last year and is just over a year old ) and also so we can put it onto dvd for when our daughter is older. Does anyone know if this can be done or would someone be willing to do it for me if I send them the link?

Any help would be fab

Lisa

Hi There are some programs that allow you to hijack video streams but naturally you run the risk of illegal downloading. If it was the BBC then you can ring and ask them for the video clip - i did this for something a couple of years ago and they were happy to do it. Plus you will get the good quality clip and be legal!

    Cheers

It's on ITV local so we have e-mailed them and asked them if we can have a copy of the video but so far have had no response so was hoping to find another solution if they do not allow us to have a copy
  • There are a few plugins for the Firefox browser that will let you download streaming or embedded video. As mallard says though you may find contacting the maker directly is your best bet in terms of both legality and quality. Let me know if you want to try Firefox though and I'll be glad to help.

You might find the following site to be helpful - basically tells you all you need to know about saving a flash video off a website:

    http://reviews!!!!et.com/4520-11327_7-6555399-1.html

Edit: Hmm, the link is getting garbled when I post the message. I think it thinks I'm trying to write rude word.. it should read reviews.c n et.com (without the spaces)

I would ring them up. I likewise emailed the BBC but never recieved an answer so went for the person to person approach and she sent me the clip whilst talking on the phone. So might be worth the direct approach. Yep can download it as others say but be careful if you go down this route as the copyright rests with the TV company and they may not be pleased especially as there are explicit comments in their Intellectual copyright section about using things. But if you get their direct permission then problem solved.

    Lisa I've PM'd you a possible solution

As mentioned above though I think permission is needed!
