    Hi,

I Priced mine up with Asda and for a 3 tier fruit cake it came to about £30 (not including any decoration) the only issue with this is im not sure how many people eat fruit cake and Im one of them as the Asda one includes nuts and Im allergic, So I checked and Marks and Spencers do a plain sponge cake and for 3 tiers it comes to £75

Most of my brides get their cakes from M&S (check the stores, they usually are on 3 for 2) and if you go in they have testers for about £1.50. I have never heard any complaints about the taste although they aren't the biggest cakes!!
  • ok - priced up asda - they sell 3 different sized celebration cakes small £6.48, medium £7.48 & large £13.48. they are all round fruit cakes with white icing on a silver cake board. so a three tier cake would cost £27.44.

  • wow I will have to bear that in mind, thats very cheap!! To be honest as long as you can get one which hasn't been damaged (I swear our local asda play football with the food out the back) I doubt anybody would even notice it wasn't a bakery type cake
  • they also had quite a long date on them (the ones we saw had best before date of end of may) so plenty of time to look for perfect ones. plus then you can decorate it any way you choose.

  • This was our M&S cake:-

The bottom and top tiers were fruit and the middle was sponge. My friends decorated it and charged £125 for everything. It looked lovely and tasted wonderful!
