New Year New Plan

Hello everyone
Right just like everyone elses my new year plan is - save money etc
Justed look through the phone articles, My wife and i get Mobiles through Orange (550 minutes for £35 each) and are tied in at the moment, but it does give us our broadband for a £5 a month. However, we have never really sorted the orange second line system out (DO NOT get me started on that CS experience!!! ). Looking at the advice in the articles we are with BT on the weekend deal £10.25 / month, but we are thinking of changing to Weekend and Evenging calls for £10.25, but the idea of 18185 looks really good, but I noticed that BT "light users" can not get the service, I looked on the BT site and could not decide if this applied to me - can anyone offer advice or comment on my newyear plan!!
Thanks

Welcome to the MSE forums IanMark.
That 'Light User' part only refers to those on the (now unavailable) Light User Scheme, not to those paying full price for their line rental and calls but just being light users.
Many on here have a standard BT line like you and use that for free (weekend or weekend and evening) calls but use 18185 for weekday daytime 01/02/03 calls, international calls and calls to mobiles. Signing up online for a 18185 account makes things a whole lot easier than using gateway providers (and you don't start paying halfway through dialling either).
The HERE link in my signature below might be of assistance to you.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
