What on earth are you banging on about?
flutterbyuk25 stated one station (Euston) then travelled to a different station (Paddington)
Sorry if I 'banged on a bit' but if you read the post again, try it slowly, one word at a time if you must and pause after the words 'Euston' and 'Paddington' you to might see the confusion :rolleyes:Whoa! This image violates our terms of use and has been removed from view0 -

flutterby advised the OP to check Euston because that's to where the OP is travelling.
fluuterby then recounted an anecdote, about an experience (s)he had in Paddington, in support of that advice. What goes around - comes around0 -
I know that the lounge at Birmingham is not open on Saturdays. Anyway, no big deal: it is a civilised place to sit while awaiting your onward train, and a free coffee of orange juice is nice, but it is hardly something to get excited about. No idea about the one at Euston, although I have read that holders of advance purchase first class tickets are not allowed to use these lounges.
As for the train journey, the benefits of first class are marginal and not worth an extra tenner for a journey that is less than three hours. The food is not all that exciting, and alcoholic drinks are not included. You can walk through the first class carriage and pick up a spare newspaper if you really want one. The additional space and comfort of the seat is a real bonus, particularly if you are going to be working during the journey, but IMHO not worth the extra money.0 -
Nope. I still don't understand what your point is. I've read it again, one word at a time (like most people read) and I still don't know how you've seem to have stepped into the "writing formal letters of complaint" zone.Livingthedream wrote: »...if you read the post again, try it slowly, one word at a time if you must and pause after the words 'Euston' and 'Paddington' you to might see the confusion

Brum is closed at weekends. The one atn Euston is open on Saturday morning but closes at 3pm.
So have I.although I have read that holders of advance purchase first class tickets are not allowed to use these lounges.
I agree. As for the train journey, the benefits of first class are marginal and not worth an extra tenner for a journey that is less than three hours.
Not true. Alcoholic drinks are free onboard to first class customers after 11am on weekday services. It's not at weekends, but then you don't get food either. The food is not all that exciting, and alcoholic drinks are not included.
Ever since they stopped handing them out and started leaving them in luggage racks I've done this every time I travel! You can walk through the first class carriage and pick up a spare newspaper if you really want one.0 -
Alcholic drinks are not free in the first floor 1st class lounge at Euston. But if you are a member of the VIRGIN Traveller club thay are free for the member and one guest.
London Euston is currently refurbishing both first class lounges and they areclosed until the beginning of March 2009
This link is to the entry criteria to their 1st class lounges.

Looks like they have updated the weekend service to be at seat rather than you having to go to the on board shop.

True, but we're talking about onboard drinks service not the lounge.
Thanks for the heads-up about the closure though.0 -
My link to the on board service says that alcoholic drinks are available.
Have alcholic drinks stopped being complimentry in first class on weekdays?
They never were complimentary at weekends.0
