Very faulty logic. y is greater than, equal to and less than -5, so is the range of all numbers. The statements do not restrict the range at all.
≥ means greater than or equal to, and ≤ means less than or equal to.
so if y is greater than or equal to -5 AND y is less than or equal to -5, then y = -5.
That's assuming that:
y ≥ -5
y ≤ -5
are two rules that are obeyed at once.
However, if the symbols don't have lines under them, i.e. the two conditions are:
y > -5
y < -5
Then you have a trick question, and there is no answer that fits the conditions.Russia is HERE0 -

It's 2 separate sums and they go like this:
In this question you must choose y only from the numbers, !!-5, -4, -3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5}
y > 2
Y< 1
Y> -1
y > -5
y < -5
There's a couple of same as or < > but I can't type them
My if I can only choose from that range, then surely y can't be both more than and less than -5 or am I STILL being daft?:o

My DD who did maths GCSE this year, looked at this question and commented that trick questions are the norm, as are questions with more than one answer and errors in the textbooks:eek:.I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
